Artist statement about the work\u00a0<\/p>\n

For my needle felting works, I upcycle donated wool felt scraps. Inspired by my large inventory of donated scraps\u2013more than I could ever use myself\u2013I began a collaborative project, \u201cSmall Birds Born from Scraps of Wool Felt,\u201d with 19 other fellow needle felting artists in Japan to make use of this inventory and help spread the practice of upcycling felt scraps. In addition to my own felt birds featured in the work, other creatures were made by 20creaters\uff08\u3053\u3053\u306f\u307f\u306a\u3055\u3093\u306e\u304a\u540d\u524d\u3092\u5165\u308c\u307e\u3057\u305f\uff09\u3000\u3000Each artist created one or two birds using the felt scraps I distributed. I then compiled the creatures into the unified artwork.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
